Seminar Instructors

Douglas Hansen

Douglas is a code consultant, author, expert witness, and instructor with 30 years of field experience. He is a licensed general contractor and ICC certified as a building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical inspector.
Douglas taught for many years in the College of San Mateo Building Technology degree program and for private training schools. His specialty is electrical inspection, but he also teaches on a wide number of other building code topics. He is the principle author of the most popular book on electrical inspection for home inspectors, Electrical Inspection of Existing Dwellings, as well as numerous magazine articles and the current Code Check series. Redwood Kardon

Redwood is a retired electrician, certified combination building inspector, electrical inspector, technical advisor, author and instructor with over 30 years of experience in construction. He was a building inspector for the City of Oakland for 12 years, an installation manager for Harmony Foods for five and has worked in all aspects of the electrical trade from bathroom remodels to chemical plants. For the past 10 years he has conducted highly acclaimed training seminars all across the country for building inspectors, electricians, contractors, architects and engineers. Peter Drenan

A former builder, a 'recovering architect', construction manager and home inspector, Peter has built his career focusing on quality control in buildings for over 30 years. Peter brings his practical perspective and hands-on approach to teaching, seminars and presentations. For over 6 years, Peter has been sharing his unique insights at regional and national conferences on topics ranging from building codes, electrical seminars, new construction inspections, communication skills and historic buildings. Old construction techniques or new, Peter has way of explaining things that just seems to make sense.
